Slow Cilento

VERSE
Em            C            D            G
You’ve seen the pictures of paradise
Perfect climbs and beach so nice
There’s no worries you’ll be at peace
Everyone that must be so at ease

CHORUS
C                              Em                        D#   G
Cos things are slow in the Cilento

VERSE
The clear blue ocean the rocky shore
Mountains in the clouds to climb and adore
Villages where everyone’s friends
Oil flows the wine never ends

CHORUS

VERSE
Come here in an August month
And decide this all too much
Festivals in the night and days on the beach
In lessons on life this is what they teach

CHORUS

Nice and slow in the Cilento

VERSE
But say what you’d see in February
Chances are it’s different scene
Empty streets and deserted towns
To have a little fun you need another around

CHORUS

VERSE
Many do what their parents did
Or leave so those left have less to do
The prices go up so less people come
It’s heading down like the setting sun

CHORUS

Here with you

VERSE
C
I could be on a boat going round the world
With an old Dutch guy seeing all unfurled
F
It’s true
                        C
But I’m here with you

Or in South East Asia work in an island bar
Playing every night, be the local star
Could do
But I’m here with you

CHORUS
Am                    F
Of all the place I could be
Am                                  G
I chose the one with you next to me
      C
It’s proof

VERSE
I could try New York there’s so much more than here
Living more in a week than I did in a year
It’s new
But I’m here with you

Or in New Zealand just hitchhiking around
Getting different jobs in the smallest towns
I go through
But I’m here with you

CHORUS

MIDDLE
So if I got out riding all day too far
Or go out driving sometimes, in your father’s car
F
At least you know, when the sun goes down
G
I’ll come back to this little old town
C
It’s proof

INSTRUMENTAL

VERSE
In India think of all I could learn
From the wisest minds from this I could turn
To do
But I’m here with you

Or in South America I could just see what I find
Have no place to go and
No queue
But I’m here with you

CHORUS + MIDDLE

Italy & me

VERSE
F
I met you on the road
                                     Am
Dressed in long forgotten clothes
            Bf                                                C
Your smile was the biggest that I’d ever seen

We were young we free
But not as much as we should be
With hindsight I know we got caught up in it

BRIDGE
But it’s no time, for regrets
When there’s still time to remedy it

CHORUS
Italy
And me
When you’re hunting for the good life
It’s the good life you will see

Italy
And me
You know I need you baby
When you’re lying next to me

(Instrumental)

VERSE
The people here are strange
And the situations strained
There ar

But it’s our boat and it’s our course
And we’ve weathered far much worse
I remember times I couldn’t keep it down

BRIDGE + CHORUS

MIDDLE
Am      F
Where your body is
Isn’t often where your heads at
The problems it causes
We’re living with them always
Teleportation
Happens all across the nation
Let’s all, join hands

CHORUS

Berlusconi

VERSE
F#
Down in the heart of southern Italy
C#
You’ve got to get on with the family
B
Cos you’ll see them almost every night
And you’re hearing how they rail and fight

And it might seem that they don’t get along
But their bond you know it’s really strong
Through the roughest times they’re stick together
Through the good and bad they’re weather all weather

BRIDGE
C#                                                            B
And some will rise and some will fall
                                    C#
Others rail others not at all
B                                                F#
They go – the system it knows me

CHORUS
F#
They blame Berlusconi
C#
Berlusconi
F#
We blame Berlusconi
C#
Berlusconi

VERSE
Down in the heart of southern Italy
There’s a lot wrong with the economy
No one down here is very organised

They say there’s far too much taxation
There only option as a nation
To prove that the system isn’t fair
They make sure it’s a fraction of they’ll declare

BRIDGE +CHORUS

INSTRUMENTAL (VERSE)

VERSE
Down in the heart of southern Italy
There’s an epidemic of diabetes
Eating pizza, pasta and Panini
It takes a lot of digesting believe me

And almost twice a day they’re eating meat
And a whole lot of unhealthy sweets
In every café and on every corner
They know it’s bad but it all just tastes so good

BRIDGE

CHORUS
They follow Berlusconi
Berlusconi
Follow Berlusconi
Berlusconi

Falling

VERSE
C
I’ve been out there all this time
                                     Am
Going through the motions finding out what’s mine

And hard, oh man you know it’s hard
Find out the right way, joining up the stars

BRIDGE
F                                              C
And I was once like you are now
F                                              C
Confused by everything, and wondering how
Am
Losing my way
F
Losing my mind
G
Lost in this time

CHORUS
C
Falling in pieces
Am
Falling apart
F
Falling for anything
G
Right from the start

Falling away
Falling in debt
Falling behind
I can’t forget

VERSE
I been wandering these streets
Remembering the friends that I had back then

And I’ve how it was
Climbing all around her, bouncing up the walls

BRIDGE

CHORUS
Send me my baby
Send me a sign
Send me to paradise
All of the time

Send me the high life
Send me my woes
Send me something
Nobody knows

City by the sea

VERSE
C
Watching the waves
F
Taking in the seasons
C
Not moving away
F
Thinking of no reasons
Am                                                  F
The winds and the tides won’t break
C
So neither shall I

In an empty café
On a dark winters day
The steam on the glass
Rain on the pain
Living through the papers
G
Life is just a long Sunday

CHORUS
F                                    C
So don’t go looking round for me
F                                    C
Knowing full well where I’ll be
Am                        F                                    C
I’ll be living out my days in a city by the sea

VERSE
In summer on the sand Cooling in the water Anger in the ocean
Dressed in my best

Dressed in my best

Peace in my heart
Lying in the sunshine living out the prime of my life
In evening on the promenade
Appearance of civility
The art of living gets easier the more I laze

CHORUS

MIDDLE
In this time
Living in the now
Wondering why
It took so long
To get here

CHORUS

Sorrow's never far away (A winter in Perdifumo)

Capo 6th
VERSE
G
See the people
Em
In the sun
C                        D
Looking out for everyone

Happy faces
Not a mourner
Forgetting what is just around the corner
G

CHORUS
C                                    Em
Cos now the winter’s come
C                                    Em
Most everyone’s gone
C
These days
D
Sorrow’s never far away

VERSE
To survive
On the mountain
Fill your bottles there at the fountain

With your head down
‘Til you’ve passed
The posters of the ones who didn’t last

CHORUS
See the winter’s here
The sadness is sincere
These days
Sorrow’s never far away

CHORUS

MIDDLE
G                Em
I’m sorry baby that I’ve got
C            G
To get away

I just can’t last another one
I’m on my way

CHORUS (Chords as verse but faster)
Ain’t got no will
Ain’t got no more
Ain’t got the spirit
Will just walk out the door

Ain’t  got no friends
Ain’t got the feeling
Ain’t got desire
The connections never there

VERSE
Settled down in a small town
Tired of rolling around

The seeds inside me

Capo 4th

CHORUS
C                                                       G
Oh my God I’ve been wound up tighter
            Em                                                F
Than the band around the old oak tree
   C                                    Em
Not angry as such, just thinking too much
F                                    G
And all I wanted came true

Oh my God I’ve been wound up tighter
Than the cord that runs around your heart
Planting the seeds, that turned into weeds
And suffocated all of my love

VERSE
C
All the problems I see
Em
Were seeds inside me
F                                                   C
And I’ve been nursing them in there for so long

I’m surprised now you know
How they started to grow
                                                G
And soon they were out of control

They fed on the dirt
As I piled up hurt
And the conditions were truly perfect

It’s clear now I sing
That thoughts become things
But back then I deaf to the words

CHORUS

VERSE
Slowly I’ve seen
How foolish I’ve been
Wishing happiness just for myself

It’s sadly short-sighted
And sorrow’s invited
When you sow the seeds in such a small space

Instead of spreading ‘em wide
Cos then you’re laughing inside
As you suddenly see you’re feeding the world

CHORUS

MIDDLE
F                                                 C
Start thinking that you need to stop thinking
Em                                                G
Turn down the volume inside your own head
Don’t look at the dots that it’s linking
They only exit in your head

CHORUS

Rolling round the world

VERSE
C
You say with your head that you’ve settled down
G
‘Til a travelling band, roll in to town
F
With the zest and zeal and energy of life on the road

You remember the people and places you’ve seen
And think of the countries you’ve never even been
And the road it calls out to you like a long lost love

The only thing between here and there
Is the wrench of leaving the one that you care
If she doesn’t leave the ones that she loves too

BRIDGE
Stuck on a one track
Not on the way back
Do you really want to be someone that can leave like that?

CHORUS
Cos I can’t stop – rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling round the world
Rolling rolling rolling, rolling round the world

VERSE
Still can’t seem to ever learn how
To live in the place where I am now
When all my life’s been planning for over the hill

It’s not greener there on the other side
But it will be new for a little while
And it’ll be in sight of the brow of another hill

But living like that on the edge of the wind

Cos you’re always missing out on something if you want to do everything

BRIDGE

CHORUS

MIDDLE
When you’re meeting the travellers who
Are the doing the things that you used to do
The memories come rushing come back in an unstoppable wave

You got to hold on, not to get washed away

CHORUS
